The Roll-Wrapping Process

We often get asked, "what is the benefit of roll-wrapped carbon fibre tubes?"

There are many benefits but first and foremost, the roll-wrapping process lets our experts custom-design a vast array of properties into the components we develop. Couple this with cost-effective and replicable manufacturing at scale, and the benefits start to stack up fast.

Brief & Lay-up We start by understanding the functional properties you need to achieve, then design the right lay-up to achieve them.
Wrapping & Curing The layup is applied around a mandrel, then cello-wrapped for compression before entering the curing oven.
Finishing Once cured, we can fabricate further in our CNC milling and turning centre before applying final finish.
Testing & QC Components are tested against specs, tolerances and other requirements, such as load, flexion and weight.

LTA Research Case Study

What aerospace standards do your materials and processes meet?

Our aerospace composite components are manufactured using tightly controlled processes designed to meet the stringent quality and traceability expectations of the aerospace industry.

We maintain full material traceability, documented production workflows, and consistent quality control to support compliance with recognised aerospace standards and customer-specific requirements

How are aerospace composite components tested and validated?

All aerospace components undergo rigorous testing and validation to ensure they meet performance, safety, and durability requirements.

This includes material testing, structural integrity checks, and application-specific validation depending on the use case. Our focus is on ensuring every component performs reliably under real-world aerospace conditions.

Why are composites used instead of traditional materials in aerospace?

Composite materials like carbon fibre offer a significantly higher strength-to-weight ratio compared to traditional materials such as steel or aluminium.

This allows aerospace engineers to reduce weight while maintaining structural performance, improving fuel efficiency, payload capacity, and overall system performance. Composites also provide excellent resistance to fatigue and corrosion.

Can you design and manufacture custom aerospace composite solutions?

We design and manufacture composite solutions tailored to specific aerospace applications.

Components are designed to meet precise load, environmental, and performance requirements, so they integrate seamlessly into the broader system.

What experience do you have delivering aerospace projects?

We have experience applying advanced composite manufacturing techniques to high-performance, precision-driven industries, including aerospace applications.

Our team understands the importance of quality, traceability, and consistency, and brings this expertise into every project we deliver. Specific project details can be shared where confidentiality allows.

What are the benefits of carbon fibre tubing and carbon wrapping in aerospace applications?

Carbon fibre tubing and wrapping provide exceptional strength and stiffness while remaining lightweight, making them ideal for aerospace structures and reinforcement applications.

They enable improved load-bearing performance without adding unnecessary mass, while also offering durability, fatigue resistance, and long service life in demanding environments.

How do you ensure quality and traceability in Aerospace manufacturing?

A structured, quality-controlled process ensures consistency. Each component is documented and tracked, from raw material selection to final delivery. Our controlled factory environment and attention to detail help minimise risk and ensure every component meets the required specifications for the aerospace application.

How can we help?

Keen to team up?

Let us know what you have in mind, and one of our team will get in touch to talk through your project and scope it with you. If you would like to share any drawings now, please do. Or, if you would prefer that we enter in an NDA first, we can make that happen quickly and easily.

If your competitive edge comes from composites, we hear your call.
